Based in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, Dr. Andrew Newton has owned and managed the Newton Psychiatric Clinic, LLC, in Harrisburg since 1998. He has expanded the business to include offices in Carmel as well as Harrisburg. The clinic provides treatment and services for a wide range of issues, including mood disorders and matters of adult psychotherapy. In addition to his work at the clinic, Dr. Andrew Newton maintains various responsibilities with the Pennsylvania Department of Correction. He initially joined the facility as the chief regional psychiatrist in 2015, and in 2022 took on the role of per diem psychiatrist through Team Centurion.
Dr. Newton studied surgery at Obafemi Awolowo University. He participated in studies and projects involving eating behaviors, nephrotic syndrome, and agitated depression, among other medical topics. After achieving his medical degree, he continued his education at the University of London, achieving a master of science in mental health studies. He focused his efforts on schizophrenia. He also holds a master of science in psychiatric medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Medicine and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, among other professional affiliations.
